Tensions look like effervescent over on the BMW Championship at Citadel Pines Golf Membership in Colorado.
Scottie Scheffler made headlines for an uncharacteristically indignant outburst after misjudging a wedge shot on Friday, and Rory McIlroy has his personal frustrations manifest in bodily type, leading to a membership toss into the water.
On the par-5 seventeenth gap at Citadel Pines, which requires a carry over water straight in entrance of the tee, McIlroy elected to hit a fairway wooden. The shot traveled 294 yards into the tough proper of the golf green. As two voices referred to as out “Fore proper!” McIlroy uncoiled from his end place and coolly tossed his membership proper into the water, creating a visual splash.
Whereas merely lacking the golf green off the tee doesn’t appear to be a punishable offense for McIlroy’s 3-wood, the printed staff offered some context. Like Scheffler, whose audible outburst on Friday adopted a water ball and a misjudged wedge from the drop zone, there was multiple think about play for McIlroy’s membership toss into the water.
Fortunately for McIlroy, the membership didn’t totally submerge and was retrievable on the water’s edge. After choosing up his tee, McIlroy calmly collected the membership and handed it to his caddie. He managed to par the opening, too.
At three beneath par general, McIlroy is at the moment T15 on the BMW Championship’s midway level, and if his place doesn’t enhance over the subsequent two rounds, he’s at the moment projected to drop from No. 5 to No. 8 within the FedEx Cup factors standings headed into subsequent week’s Tour Championship at East Lake.
