Monitor and marathon season in Eire – Irish round-up

Mathew Kiplimo Kemboi of Kenya was the winner of the Belfast Marathon on Sunday (Could 5) in a time of two:14.44. Aweke Ayalew Yimer was second in 2:14.52 and Moses Kilmulwo Tuyange third in 2:15.10.

Ending twenty fifth and first M60 was 64-year-old Tommy Hughes (Try RC ) in 2:36.37. Hughes’ time of two:30.02, run in October 2020, was a world M60 file.

First girl was Beatrice Jepkemai  in 2:35.03; Laila Azia Alaoui Selsouli was an in depth second in  2:35.20 and Shewaye Woldemeskel third in 2:39.58. Gladys Ganiel  (North Belfast Harriers, W45),  winner in 2022 and second final 12 months in 2:41.20,  completed fourth girl this time in 2:40.21.

Marathon season in full swing

Peter Somba (Dunboyne AC) gained the half marathon in 68:26, with Sergiu Ciobanu (Clonliffe Harriers, M35) second in 68:46. First girl was Sally Forristal (St Joseph’s AC) in 82:19.

Aaron Hanlon made it a house win at the Drogheda 10km,  in Co Louth on Sunday profitable the race with a time of 31 minutes 18 secs. A detailed second in 31:24 was Colin Maher (Ballyfin AC), whereas third in 32:05 was Vladislav Evseev.Fiona Roche (Raheny Shamrock , W40 ) was first girl in 36:34, adopted by Laura McDonnell (Rathfarnham WSAF, W40) in 37:29 and Aoife Fay (Dunleer AC) in 39:43.

Main house 1,373 finishers at the West of Eire Ladies’s 10km Mini Marathon in Ballina, Co Mayo on Sunday (Could 5) was Ellen Moran (Galway Metropolis Harriers) in 37:42.  Sinead Whitelaw (Mullingar Harriers) was second in 38:47 and Serena Tuffy (Dundrum South Dublin AC0  third in 39:03. Each Whitelaw and Tuffy are initially from Ballina , Co Mayo.

Breffni Kelly  (Clane AC, W35) was the winner of the ladies’s masters title at the Leinster Novice and Masters Street Championships, held in Gowran, Co Kilkenny on Saturday (Could 4). Kelly clocked a time of 10 minutes 45 secs for the 4km course. Michelle Cox (Newbridge AC, W40) was second in 11:01 and Catherine O’Connor ( Sli Cualann AC) third in 11:03.

Mick Fogarty (Ferbane AC, M45)  gained the boys’s 6km race with a time  of 19:24.Gavin Kelly (Clane AC, M45) was second in 19:35 and Mark Augustin (Le Chéile AC, M40) third in 19:47.

Novice title winners have been Denise Egan (Ferbane AC) and Matthew Glennon (Mullingar Harriers).

Earlier within the week

At the ‘Deadman’s’ 5km, in Carrick-on-Suir, Co Tipperary on Friday (Could 3) Pat Fitzgerald (Waterford AC) was the winner in 16 minutes 21 secs, with Kealy Tideswell (Clonmel AC, W40) third general and first girl in 17:41 — her second win in as many days.

Michael Harty (East Cork AC, M40) in a time of 25 minutes 30 secs and Kealey Tideswell (Clonmel AC, W40 ) in 28:58 have been the winners on the  Joe Hourigan Memorial 5 Mile in Midleton, Co Cork on Thursday (Could 2).

Daniel Ryan Ellis (Nenagh Olympic AC) was the winner of the Brendan Kinane 5km held  in Dundrum village, Co Tipperary on Wednesday (Could 1). Dymphna Ryan of host membership Dundrum AC was first girl in 17:04.

Monitor and area

As everybody most likely is aware of by now,  the Irish blended and ladies’s 4 x 400m relay groups each gained their heats at the World Relays within the Bahamas in nationwide file instances reserving themselves locations  on the Paris Olympics.

Making up the blended workforce have been Cillin Greene (Galway Metropolis Harriers), Rhasidat Adeleke (Tallaght AC), Thomas Barr (Ferrybank AC) and Sharlene Mawdsley (Newport AC). Adeleke and Mawdsley have been additionally on the ladies’s 4x400m, together with Phil Healy (Bandon AC) and Sophie Becker (Raheny Shamrock AC).

Reserves Roisin Harrison (Emerald AC) and Lauren Cadden (Sligo AC),  got here in for Adeleke and Mawdsley within the girls’s 4 x 400m ultimate.

Within the center distances, at the primary Dublin Graded Monitor and Discipline meet hosted by UCD on the Belfield monitor on Sunday (Could 5),  Conall Rogers (Raheny Shamrock AC ) was quickest within the males’s mixed A/B 800m in 1:55.25. Winner of the mixed  girls’s A and B 800 was Rachel Hosey (Emerald AC In 2:22.06. Second quickest was  Cliodhna Nolan (Ace AC) whereas third was Molly Brown (Metro St Brigid’s AC) in 2:27.74.

Simply six girls turned out for the ladies’s 3000m, with Clare Sullivan (Crusaders AC ) the quickest in 10:41.64. Philip McKee (Letterkenny AC) gained the boys’s 3000m in 8:39.63.

The day had began out with  the 2000m steeplechase with Dearbhla Allen and Abbie Sheridan, each St Peter’s AC, ending first and second of 5 opponents within the girls’s race in   instances of seven:13.82 and seven:17.32 respectively. Within the males’s race, with an entry of 4, Sean Lawton (Durrus AC) was the winner in 6:25.62.

Sturdy visiting athletes at Santry

Spotlight of the Irish Milers Membership/GV Ryan/Louis Vandendries Monitor and Discipline Meet held in Santry on Saturday (Could 4) was a cracking males’s 800m with 5 athletes breaking 1 minute 47 seconds.

Polish customer Filip Rak  was the winner in 1:46.47 whereas behind him, Cathal Doyle (Clonliffe Harriers) and one other Polish customer Filip Ostowski have been each given instances of 1:456.75, with Doyle edging it for second place. Cillian Kiran (Raheny Shamrock) was fourth in 1:46.84 and Cian McPhillips (UCD AC) fifth in 1:47.40.

British customer Alexandra Bell gained the ladies’s 800m in 2:01.74. Better of the Irish was Jenna Bromell (Emerald AC)  who was third in 2:02.75

Winners of the A grade males’s 1500m race was  Lughaidh Mallon (Lagan Valley ) in 3:44.27. Emily Bolton (Donore Harriers) gained the ladies’s A 1500m in 4:24.31.

Over 3000m, Oisin Murray (An Ríocht) gained the boys’s race in 8:14.73 with Rebecca Rossiter (CNDR Belfast) better of the ladies in 9:48.68.
