Giro d’Italia organisers RCS Sport have confirmed that Tuesday’s sixteenth stage from Livigno to Santa Cristina Val Gardena will go forward regardless of worsening climate forecasts and a threat of heavy rain and chilly temperatures for a lot of the day.

The 206km stage is because of descend from Livigno to Bormio through the Passo di Foscagno after which climb to 2,498 metres on the Passo dello Stelvio earlier than turning left and descending the Umbrail Go into Switzerland for a valley experience to the Val Gardena end. The summit of the Passo dello Stelvio had already been minimize from the stage on account of current heavy snow and the chance of avalanches.
