Colombia's Inirida flower: From 'weed' to emblem for UN meeting

COLOMBIA — When Ruben Dario Carianil started cultivating the weird, pointy Inirida flower within the Colombian Amazon 10 years in the past, his family members made enjoyable of him for rising “weeds.”

Carianil runs the enterprise together with his spouse Martha Toledo and their youngsters.

On a plot of some 20 hectares (49 acres), the Inirida crops share area with quite a lot of native shrubs and even a patch of undisturbed forest.
